Justin and I were still together, our relationship was public. Pretty much everybody was excepting of Isaiah and I, expecially Isaiah, everyone who ever looked at him just looved him to pieces. It was hard being away from J and the guys, but for the first time I was happy with my life. Bree moved to Riverside and Ajay and Julie moved to Memphis. Illusion was back on track and doing great, infact we had had a metting with a management company and we awaiting a responce. Isaiah was doing great, crawling around and playing with pictures of Justin. Turns out he loved 'Justin Music' too and would bawl unless it was playing on the car radio. He finally got his curls, which I loved. He woke up on morning and they were everywhere, I laughed at how he matched Justin in the mornings.
Justin and I were more and more in love each day. I was exstatic at planning the wedding. I really loved him and he really loved me, no matter what some tabloid had to say about us. Though they constantly tried to break us up by printing old pictures of him and Britney Spears, but I had to learn to let it go. Lance and Ajay eventually officially got together, though they were still a secret to everyone else. I was just extatic to have my family and friends around me and couldn't imagine being happier.
"Bree, I'm going to get the mail, keep an eye on Isaiah!" I called.
"Okay!"
I walked out in to the hot sun and waved to a few neighbors on my way to the mailbox. I opened the small blue box and was surprised to find only one envelope.
" Huh? No bills? No salepapers? No hate mail? That's wierd," I thought taking out the vanilla folder.
I looked it over as I walked back to the house. It didn't look important so I set it down on the table and forgot about it.
" Aren't you excited? The guys are getting back tomorrow," Bree beemed.
" What are you so excited about?" I asked.
" Oh nothing,"
" You miss a cetain NSYNCer?" I nudged her.
" No," she blushed.
" Uh-huh, like I wouldn't notice how you and Joey were buddy-buddy they're last night here," I said.
" Okay, so maybe I like him alittle," she said.
" Alittle? If I wasn't around to wipe the drool off your lips we'd be swimming around the house right now. Face it girl, you are head over heels for that boy," I said.
" Oh shut up and play with your son," she handed him to me.
I put Isaiah down and he crawled over to his play phone, he drug it back over and handed it to me.
" For me?" I played along.
" Hello? Who's this?" I said into the plastic reciver.
Then I heard the real phone ring.
" Uh-oh, here, you talk on this one and I'll talk on that one," I handed it back to him.
He laughed and began to bang it against the wall.
" Hello?"
" Hey baby!"
" Hey J, what's up?"
" Oh, just checking in, can't wait to see you two tomorrow,"
" I know me neither, I can't believe we lasted 2 and a half months without seeing eachother,"
" Yeah I know but I have missed you and Isaiah so much,"
" I know, we miss you to,"
" Speaking of which, where is Isaiah?"
" Oh, he's on the living room, banging his phone against the wall,"
" Oh? Let me talk to him,"
" Okay, hang on,"
I took the portable into the living room and kneeled next to Isaiah.
Hey sweety, come here, it's Daddy," I said happily.
Isaiah crawled over and sat in front of me. I held the phone up to his ear and he laughed. I could hear Justin's voice but couldn't make out what he was saying. Isaiah laughed a few times and then turned his attention back to his phone.
" He's playing with something else now," I told Justin.
" He sounds so adorible," he beamed.
" He is, he looks just like you, curls and all," I said.
" Oh no, poor kid, we should just shave them off now and hope it grows back different,"
" Don't you dare touch his hair when you get here, everyone just loves them, and I think they're cute as hell,"
" Hey! Don't curse around our son," he instructed.
" Yes Father,"
" That's not funny,"
" Ha, ha, ha," I rubbed it in.
" You know what- I gotta go, TV show's starting. I'll see you tomorrow baby,"
" Okay, I love you,"
" I love you too,"
" Bye,"
" Bye,"
" I love you muah, muah, muah, muah," Bree teased from the sofa.
" Oh shut up, when you and Joey finally confess your love for eachother you'll be the same way,"
" I don't love Joey, I just kinda like him. Hey wait a minute, what do you mean love for eachother, do you know something, did he say something to you?"
" Even if he did I wouldn't tell you, what those guys say to me remains between me and them," " He said something!! What'd he say?"
" Bree! I'm not saying anything,"
" Come on, please, I'll babysit for a year,"
" Bree! No, now come on, be mature,"
" Alright, but your such a brat you know that?"
" I know, people have been saying that all my life," I smiled.
" Baby!" I squealed.
I flew down the stairs and jumped on him, wrapping my legs around his waist.
" I take it your happy to see me," he laughed setting me down.
" Damn right I'm happy to see you!" I said pulling him into a passionate kiss.
I finally pulled away when I felt Isaiah tug on my pants.
" I think Isaiah wants to say 'hi'," I looked down at him.
" Hey little man. Wow you got big! You miss me?" Justin picked him up.
Isaiah gurlged a responce.
" That's what I thought," he set him back down on the floor.
Isaiah immediatly crawled away to one of the gazillion toys he had on the floor.
" He's beautiful isn't he?" I beamed.
" Yeah, just like his mom," Justin replied.
I felt my self blush and looked away.
" That's my J, always the charmer," I said.
" Hey, what's this?" he asked picking up the manilla folder off the table.
" Oh, just some mail,"
" You didn't open it?"
" Naw, doesn't look important so it can wait,"
" You never know, it could be your big break or something,"
" Well, I'll tell you what, if your so worried about it, you open it okay?"
" You hungry?" I asked.
" You cookin?"
" Yeah,"
" Yeah, I'm alittle hungry," he smiled.
" Shall we pasta?"
" Oh yah,"
I left J alone with Isaiah and the envelope.
" Oh, I didn't open it," he said nervously.
" You okay?"
" Yeah, why?"
" No reason, you just seem alittle ansy hunny,"
" Naw, I'm cool, I'm good,"
" Oh hey, Britney called the other day,"
" What?! She did?! What'd she say?!!"
" Only that she was looking for you, she had a few questions about your foundation. Is that alright?"
" Yeah, sure why?"
" Because you just flipped out when I mentioned Britney,"
" Britney?! What about her?!"
" See! Your flipping out again,"
" Oh, I guess I'm just alittle high strung or something,"
" Or something," I agreed while picking up Isaiah.
" Hey, let me see him, it's been forever since I've last held him,"
I handed the 7 month old over and watched Justin play with him on the floor. I laughed as Isaiah used Justin's head as a nail and hit it repeatedly with a plastic hammer. I curled up into a ball in the corner and watched the spectical.
" Huh?"
" You dozzed off while I was watching I. Hunny if your really tired I can take you upstairs to bed,"
" No, no, I'm awake, what time is it?"
" Almost 7:30,"
" Hmm, where's Isaiah?"
" Playpen, it may be a plastic hammer, but it still packs a wholipe after the 329th time," he sat down on the other end of the couch.
" So, what are you up to?" I moved my feet into his lap.
" I'm watching 'Heat', the best movie of all time,"
" Whatever you say baby," I said noticing the manilla folder still on the table.
" Hey baby, pass me that envelope,"
" What envelope?"
" That one on the table,"
" Why?"
" Cause I wanna open it,"
" Why, you didn't care about it before,"
" But now I wanna know,"
" It's nothing,"
" Then let me see for myself now pass it to me,"
" No,"
" Fine, I'll get it," I leaned forward.
I had barely touched it when Justin snatched it away.
" Hey, give me that,"
" No,"
" Justin, stop being a dork and hand it over,"
" Uh-uh,"
" J, this is not funny now come on," I crawled into his lap as he hid it behind his back.
" Justin! Come on! Give me the folder,"
" No, it's nothing,"
" Then what's the big deal?"
" You don't need to waste your time with it,"
" I want to waste my time with it," I finally grabbed the envelope.
I ran over to the otherside of the room. Justin dropped his head, into his hands and I knew it was bad. I opened the envelope and pulled out a second envelope full of photos J and Britney. I skimmed over them, each one more shocking than the one before.
There was Justin and Britney in bed, her head on his chest the way I had done so many times before. There was Britney and J wrapped up in a kiss, J and Britney holding hands, etc.
" Oh my God," I dropped them on the floor and backed away.
" Now, Em, I can explain," Justin began.
" Explain what? That you cheated on me?"
" I didn't cheat, those were before you,"
" Bull shit! These are pretty fuckin resent J!''
" How do you know?"
" She has her nose pierced. She got her nose pierced last month! A time in which you were conviniantly gone!"
" Em-,"
" You bastard! I want you out of my house!" I pointed to the door.
" Get out!"
" Em, I'm not leaving till-,"
" Fine, I'll go, I've moved before I'll move again," I ran upstairs.
" Em! Let's talk about this!"
" I don't wanna talk! I can't even look at you! You make me sick!"
Justin reached out to grab my arm.
" Don't touch me!"
" Em wait a minute,"
" Go to hell," I turned into my room and began to pack a large suit case.
" Em, what are you doing?"
" Getting the hell out of here,"
" No! No! You can't leave, your being irrational,"
" Irrational? I'm being irrational?! You, fucked another woman, I think I have to right to be as irrational as I wanna be! We have a son, we were gonna get married, I thought I ment something to you, I thought our family ment something to you!"
" You mean the world to me,"
" Then how could you? How could you do this?"
" I didn't mean it, it was an accident," he followed me to Isaiah's room where I began to pack things for him.
" An accident? What did she trip, fall and land on your dick?"
" Kinda,"
I let out a frustrational groan and stormed down the stairs. I picked up Isaiah and turned to the door to find Justin blocking it.
" Move J,"
" No,"
" Move!"
Isaiah began to cry at the sudden yelling.
" Em, your scaring Isaiah, now come on, you've got no where to go and it's getting dark. Just atleast wait till tomorrow and let's talk about it, when your calmer and thinking clearly,"
" No, I don't wanna talk about it, I hate you,"
" You can hate me all you want, but I'm not letting you take that baby away from me," he said.
I glared at him and relunctantly agreed to stay.
" But you are so sleeping in the guest room!" I slammed my bedroom door.
I put Isaiah down for bed and waited patiently for Justin to go to bed. I finally heard the guest bedroom door close around 2 am. I wrapped Isaiah in a blanket and grabbed our bags. I snuck past his door and down the stairs.
" Ready for a road trip Isaiah?" I whispered walking out the front door.
Isaiah laughed and lightly tugged on my hair.
" That's what I thought you'd say," I laughed also.
I strapped Isaiah into his carseat and tossed our bags in the trunk before heading out of the drive way. I turned up the radio and took one last look at our house. I didn't let myself cry. I was to strong for that. Crying means admitting your wrong and I wasn't the wrong one, he was. I turned my attention back to driving and turned toward the freeway.
" Well, Isaiah, what station will pick where we go this time?" I asked Isaiah.
I had picked Riverside because it was mentioned in a JoDee Messina song called: ' Stand by me'. I smiled when Carolyn Dawn Johnson's 'Georgia' came through the speakers. I sang along with the chorus: 'And if I'm not over you...by the time I get to Georgia...I'll be Alabama bound...'"
" What do you think Isaiah hunny? Georgia sound good to you?" I asked.
Isaiah kicked his feet up and tossed his pasifier at me.
" Well, if that's not enough, there always Alabama, right?" I handed it back to him.
I turned and waved to the blue sigh which read: " You are now leaving Tennessee, come back soon"
We were on our way to a second new life, once again leaving nothing behind but tail lights and memories.
